“If you want to stay at my Park Place Hotel, that will cost you $500!” a student happily exclaimed to a friend who had the misfortune of landing on the second most expensive property in Monopoly. Similar phrases echoed throughout the evening at Ayala Science Library, marking UC Irvine’s International Games Day. Over 40 students from the International Center arrived eager learn and play classic games like Monopoly, Clue, Settlers of Catan, and Apples to Apples while mingling with librarians and library staff from campus. The event, co-hosted by UCI Libraries and the International Center, was successful: many students left having learned a new game and having gotten to know other students as well as their librarians. The board games will soon be available for checkout, giving Anteaters something fun to do during study breaks.
