Below are images of the foils for the prototype Wingsails created by Lauren Thelen. They are NACA 0018 profile foils.
They were fabricated out of 1” thick polyurethane foam using a laser cutter to cut through the first half and then Lauren cut through the rest manually once she had the path established. Each of the Wingsail foils are 24” long.
Two holes were cut in them. One is at ½ the length and the other is 1/3 the length since it is not known which is best yet. At this stage, the 1/3 hole will be used.
