For Patients
Participate in an interview study
You may be eligible to participate in a study to learn more about people’s reactions to receiving the results of their biomarker testing as part of an evaluation for changes in memory and thinking. Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh and University of California, Irvine invite you to join an important research study that aims to better understand the experiences, in particular the implications of receiving results for biomarker testing for Alzheimer’s disease.
What is involved
Participation in the PARADE study involves up to four confidential interviews over 6-10 months. The interviews will be conducted over video conferencing or by telephone and each interview will take between 30-60 minutes to complete. Travel is not required
Benefits
There are no direct benefits from participation in this study but the information we learn will help to create recommendations and resources that will be beneficial for people undergoing a similar diagnoses.
Compensation
Participants will receive up to $150 for completing the study.
Eligibility
People who are planning to, or who have recently received biomarker testing for Alzheimer’s disease are eligible (family members are also eligible).
What is a biomarker test for Alzheimer’s
-
- it’s a diagnostic test
- it involves a PET brain scan, or a cerebrospinal fluid/blood sample
- it helps doctors and researchers understand whether symptoms related to thinking and memory are due to Alzheimer’s disease
