The Patterson Lab uses electroencephalography (EEG) to explore sensory gating in the brain—the process of filtering out irrelevant or unnecessary information. Individuals with and without psychiatric diagnoses are compared on measures of neurocognition using neurocognitive assessments and symptom severity using structured and semi-structured interview protocols to gain a deeper understanding of the neuropsychiatric diagnoses to improve health outcomes.
