Dr. Male received her PhD in Psychology/Neuroscience from Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia where she was trained in electroencephalography (EEG), person-centered therapy techniques, and clinical assessments to assess atypical and typical cognitive development in children. Her research has explored pre-attentive brain processes in adults, including perceptual elaboration during higher order language comprehension and error signals generated by unanticipated changes in visual input. Dr. Male has been involved in several research projects exploring (1) language comprehension, (2) error signals generated for unanticipated changes in auditory input, and (3) pre-attentive object formation. Now, she is combining measures of neurophysiological, cognitive, and genomic biomarkers of neuropsychiatric disorders and symptom severity to improve our current understanding of the biological bases of psychiatric diagnoses.
