I study how features of schooling contribute to social inequality and what we can do about it. I am especially interested in the ways in which local contexts shape students’ experiences and the implications for educational policy and interventions. Recent work considers organizational differences in mathematics course placements and large-scale experimental studies of brief social-psychological interventions in middle and high school.
