Campus Architecture, City Planning, and the Legacy of William Pereira

50 years ago…

William Pereira (1909-1985) designed the original campus of UC Irvine.

Beginning on Monday, April 18, 2016, a symposium and accompanying suite of exhibits will examine the history of UCI’s master plan and the city of Irvine in relation to American modernism and higher education and early 1960s Utopianism. The aim is to define Pereira’s legacy and influence on contemporary developments in campus architecture and urbanism.
