• UC Irvine Medical Center is the primary teaching site for the UC Irvine School of Medicine and will be for the planned UC Irvine School of Pharmacy which welcomed its second class this fall 2022.
• UC Irvine Medical Center expansion is set to add an Irvine location as a 144-bed acute care facility, ambulatory care center and cancer center.
• Our Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of only 52 in the nation and is the only one in Orange County designated for excellence by the National Cancer Institute.
• Our Comprehensive Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center is the first in Orange County to be certified is a Comprehensive Stroke Center by the nation’s preeminent healthcare standard-setting organization.
• UC Irvine is also the first hospital in Orange County to receive American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence.
• In 2018, the Patient Safety Movement Foundation recognized UCI Health as the first academic health system in the world to have achieved Five-Star Hospital for implementing processes designed to help hospitals eliminate the leading causes of preventable patient deaths in hospitals.
