“The objective of activist research is not to replace the theoretically driven quest for understanding of basic processes with ‘applied’ problem-solving, but rather to develop a third category of research, which is both theoretically driven and intended to be put to use.” – Charles Hale, “What is Activist Research?”, p.13-14

I am a PhD student at the University of California, Irvine working at the intersection of Asian-American studies, legal anthropology, and economic anthropology. I am interested in researching gentrification in urban US Chinatowns, and I am committed to an activist anthropology framework.

I will be a JD Candidate at Yale Law School starting in Fall 2020.
