Weaving

Embedded Weaver: Pooja Saxena

Weaving is a fascinating craft with roots embedded in traditions, values, and beliefs across cultures. The craft shows interesting connections to sociological, anthropological, and epistemological concepts.

Weaving involves a technique known as warping, which threads the loom by placing yarn in designated slots and holes. There are various types of looms such as rigid heddle loom, pin loom, and floor loom. In order to create new patterns, weavers must understand the mechanics of the loom. The first attempt of weaving begins with mathematical calculations that figure out how much yard is needed for a project.
