In August 2009, OIT introduced a blogging service to UCI using WordPress. Over the past two years the service has grown as people have discovered how easy it is to create a blog or a simple website using WordPress.

In the past two years, both WordPress and how people are using it has evolved to make it a viable content management system for simple websites. One aspect of using our Blogs@UCI service that dissuaded people was the domain name. Not everyone liked the ‘blogs.uci.edu’ web address and the casual nature of blogging.

On August 17, 2011 we rebranded Blogs@UCI to Sites@UCI and changed to domain name to ‘sites.uci.edu’. The ‘blogs.uci.edu’ domain still works, but redirects to Sites. We hope that this small change will help more people find the system useful and they can use Sites@UCI to create small websites at UCI quickly and efficiently.
