Measuring Functional and Structural Changes With Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging

Located at the Beckman Laser Institute (BLI), we are dedicated to translational research through technology development and a diverse array of pre-clinical and clinical applications.

What is Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging?

By measuring projected spatial patterns at different wavelengths of light, spatial frequency domain imaging (SFDI) can be used to quantitatively measure structural and functional components of tissue. Through collaborations combining the expertise of multiple PI’s, we are developing a non-contact tool for investigating of burn wound diagnosis and healing, tissue oxygenation during surgery, and hemodynamics within the brain.
