Undergraduate Senior Design Projects (BME 180)

UCI Senior Undergraduate Teams

The Wifi Lab has mentored numerous groups of UCI Biomedical engineering senior students, with the goal of developing low-cost, hand-held SFDI devices. Students learn 3D printing, LABView and MATLAB coding, and optics design during a year-long course.

BME 180 Project (2017 – 2018)

The SFDI technology has a great potential with many real-life applications, especially in early non-invasive biomedical diagnosis. Our newest adventure was carried out by a group of enthusiastic and talented Biomedical Undergraduate students at UC Irvine.
Their company,

Theia Optics, is creating a new low-cost imaging modality to help clinicians detect pressure ulcers sooner.
