Blood Donations Sought from Recovered COVID-19 Patients
Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is asking for blood donations from people who have fully recovered from COVID-19, as it investigates treatments for the disease. Those donating blood need to be symptom-free for at least 14 days.

COVID-19 Patient Care and Healthcare Workforce Fund
At the UCI Health Medical Center in Orange, the most pressing need is expanded capacity to address the potential surge in patients. Your gift will help provide:
- Support for UCI intensive care unit and additional surge tents to house patients
- Supplies such as sanitization & protective items for patients & staff
- Expanded diagnostic testing services for patients & staff
- Additional lab equipment to process more COVID-19 tests internally with a rapid turnaround time
- Support for additional personnel to accommodate the growing patient population
COVID-19 Research Innovation Fund
Researchers across UCI have accelerated their efforts to slow and stop the spread of COVID-19 and minimize its negative impacts. Your gift for research will support some of our teams’ most promising, high-impact work:
- Development of a COVID-19 diagnostic test for rapid screening
- Advancement of a COVID-19 vaccine
- Scaling up research for emerging infectious diseases
- Studying the pathogenesis of coronaviruses
- Funding for the School of Medicine’s Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratory, the only BSL-3 lab in the UC system.
FDA Wants Blood Plasma Donations from Those Recovered From COVID-19
The US Food and Drug Administration today put out a call for those that have recovered from coronavirus to donate blood plasma, which could potentially help patients fight the disease. The FDA also launched a webpage that provides additional information for those interested.

FRESH Basics Needs Hub is accepting donations of non-perishable food on Wednesdays 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. They are also able to accept gift cards so they can distribute to students.
