Dear SpaceTime, and Orange County,

Welcome. Scheduling continues apace — I have some clarity, and some questions. Please reply to the QUESTIONS right away.

CLARITY

We are now overflowing with potential informants. Some new highlights: former Mayor of Irvine Beth Krom, who will introduce us to the contested terrain that is the Orange County Great Park; and Bill Lillyman, who will help us connect Derrida with the Ayala Science Library. I am now in the final stages of narrowing things down to a reasonable schedule.

I am conscious of staying within the confines of a 10-week schedule and our already busy lives. To wit:

  • We will backfill the empty Wednesday evenings of Litia Perta’s Art 220: Wednesdays 6:30-8:50PM on March 30 (optional, see below), April 6, May 25, and June 1.
  • We will attend California Modern, Irvine Style on April 18. I know this doesn’t work for everyone so attend as your schedule permits.
  • We will meet on three Saturday mornings, afternoons, and/or evenings chosen from five options: April 23 and 30, and May 7, 21, and 28. For now, please set aside 10AM-8PM on all of these days.

QUESTIONS

1) Write me right away if 6:30-8:50PM on March 30, April 6, May 25, and June 1 doesn’t work for you. (No need to write if it works.) I’m trying to avoid the Friday evening time slot.
2) Respond to the doodle poll about Saturday availability. Note that I’m only planning to occupy 6 of the 15 time slots shown (for a total of 10 three hour slots for the course plus the conference).

MARCH 30 and APRIL 6

The first class (March 30, 6:30-8:50PM) is optional. I know half of you quite well. The other half of you I’ve never met. Please come meet me at my studio, ACT 2228, and we can introduce ourselves. Feel free to come alone or in small groups. Any time between 6:30 and 8:30 is fine.

The second class (April 6, 6:30-8:50PM) will begin in the oculus of Ayala Science Library. See you all there.

I will be updating the course website with the final schedule ASAP and any required readings at least one week in advance. So expect some readings from me on March 30.

Warm regards,

–Jesse
