Hello,

You have expressed interest in taking my 251 next quarter. Awesome.

Because we’re going to be in situ and with guests, it’s a bit complicated to schedule. And I can’t finalize the schedule without some sense for which and how many of you are enrolled.

Here’s what I know so far:

  • Given the scheduling complexity, full attendance won’t be mandatory. Missing one session is probably OK. Missing 3 sessions is probably not OK.
  • There will be some Saturday meetings, likely two. Not all day.
  • There will be some Sunday meetings, likely two. Not all day.
  • There will be some weeknights, selected to suit the group. I want to accommodate people taking 230 with Daniel and Jennifer which rule out Tuesday or Thursday nights.
  • may be able to coordinate with Litia’s 220 colloquium schedule, which opens up Wednesday nights as an option.
  • There is at least one Monday: April 18 — though you don’t have to attend the entire event.
  • Our seminars normally consist of 20 contact hours. I anticipate that we’ll go over this a bit, but I’m trying to keep things tight. No more than 30 hours, I promise.
  • Conversely, our seminars normally consist of lots of reading. While there will be reading, I don’t anticipate more than 50 pages/week on average, and possibly one book. This class is about working with people in their spaces. Related theory is important, but not the focus.

Can everyone who plans to enroll send me their April and May weeknight and weekend commitments, to the best of their knowledge? If you’ve already sent me this info, send it again.

Lastly, I’m open to non-MFA graduate students, but would prefer that they come because you know them. So feel free to invite anyone awesome you know from outside our department. This course is filling, but is not yet full.

Yours,

–Jesse
