Summer Conference Assistants (SCAs) assist the Student Housing Staff and Student Center & Event Services (SCES) Staff in the overall implementation of University and non-University summer conference programs. The information listed below provides an overview of the position as well as the requirements for SCA applicants.
Eligibility & Employment Requirements
Supervisor: Residential Living Coordinator and Student Center & Event Services.
Compensation: $1400 monthly stipend, room in assigned Residential community, and meal allotment at Brandywine or Anteatery when dining is open.
Live-on Requirement: Required to live in an assigned-on campus residential community (Arroyo Vista, Mesa Court or Middle Earth) during summer employment period.
Hours: Approximately (on average) 22 hours per week during term of employment.
Weekend/Evening Hours: Weekend and evening hours will be required for duty and conference events.
Position Location: Onsite at all Summer Conference Office locations (Arroyo Vista, Mesa Court, and Middle Earth)
Dates: May 27, 2025 – September 13, 2025
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must maintain active student status during time of employment.
- Commit to position for the entire employment period.
- Adhere to all Student Housing and UCI policies and procedures.
- Must be able to provide support to and interact with all individuals in the community as defined by the job description.
- Must pass a background check.
- Good standing with the University.
- Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Must be able to commute to multiple site locations.

Position Responsibilities:
- Participate in an on-call duty rotation for after-hours response and fulfill the requirements of duty coverage, rounds, and lock-up during the week, weekends, and campus closures/holidays as assigned.
- Must work varied office hours at all summer conference offices to coincide with the conference schedule. Work hours may vary and can be irregular at times. Work hours may include normal weekday hours, on-call hours, and weekend hours.
- Responsible for conference registration duties and shifts.
- Prepare room keys & conduct pre/post inspections of facilities.
- Check-in/check-out of guests and guest room keys and meal cards according to procedures.
- Reconcile and input conference registration data, generate and maintain reports on registration and daily activity, and provide accurate and timely evaluations for each assigned conference.
- Remain in constant communication with Housing, SCES, and Dining staff during the conferences’ stay.
- Communicate with Operations using radio, email, and telephone during desk and duty shifts.
- Knowledge of and ability to enforce University policies and procedures.
- Attend weekly staff meetings, 1:1 meeting(s) with supervisors and Summer Conference Leads.
- Provide emergency response and on-call crisis management throughout the summer.
- Serve in a rotating schedule for after-hours response and fulfill the requirements of duty coverage, rounds, and lock-up during the week, weekends, and campus closures/holidays as assigned.
- Assist Housing Operations with linen counts and linen exchanges as needed.
- Assist Student Housing Staff with administrative or special projects as needed.
