Angela Jenks (ajenks at uci dot edu) is a medical anthropologist and Associate Professor of Teaching in UCI’s Department of Anthropology, where she has designed and led numerous teaching-focused workshops and a graduate seminar on Teaching Anthropology. She is the current Editor in Chief of the Teaching and Learning Anthropology Journal and served as the first scholar-in-residence for Cultural Anthropology’s Teaching Tools section in 2016. Angela is the recipient of multiple teaching awards, including UCI’s 2019-2020 Academic Senate Early-Career Faculty Award for Teaching, the 2017 TA Professional Development Award from UCI, the 2017 Dean’s Honoree for Excellence in Undergraduate Instruction from the UCI School of Social Sciences, and the 2014 Teacher of the Year Award from the American Anthropological Association’s Society for Anthropology in Community Colleges.

Katie Cox (kecox at uci dot edu) is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Anthropology. As a Senior Pedagogical Fellow with UCI’s Division of Teaching Excellence and Instruction (DTEI), Katie has designed and led numerous pedagogical trainings for UCI graduate students, faculty, and post-doctoral scholars on topics including active learning, inclusive teaching, and online course design. In Summer 2020, Katie helped to coordinate the DTEI Graduate Fellowship, through which graduate students across UCI worked collaboratively with faculty to redesign courses for remote instruction. Katie received the 2019 Most Promising Future Faculty Award in recognition of her teaching and research.
