Daniel Nation, Ph.D.
Daniel Nation received his doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Miami in 2009. He went on to complete his clinical internship in Neuropsychology at the University of California San Diego (UCSD)/VA San Diego Healthcare System and postdoctoral training through an NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral fellowship in Biological Psychiatry and Neuroscience at UCSD. His research is focused on the role of vascular factors in cognitive aging, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Specific projects include MRI studies of cerebrovascular resistance, biomarker studies of blood-brain barrier permeability, and blood cell culture studies examining the protective role of circulating angiogenic and progenitor cells. The goal of these studies is to improve our understanding of how vascular factors contribute to cognitive decline in order to improve our ability to identify those at risk and develop targets for new therapies.
Dr. Nation is currently an Associate Professor of Psychological Science and a faculty member of the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND).
