Getting to UCI

By plane

UC Irvine is located in Orange County, California, about 4 miles from John Wayne Airport (SNA). SNA also connects to Canada and Mexico. A taxi from SNA to the conference hotel costs about $25.

The conference is located about 50 miles from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

International airfares to SNA and LAX are often similar.

A shuttle ride from LAX can, depending on the traffic, take up to more than 2 hours (including the waiting time at the terminal). It is recommended to book shuttles in advance. The most frequent shuttles are super shuttle and prime time shuttle.

From the hotel to the conference and back

There will be buses provided running daily between the Marriott Newport Beach hotel and the UCI conference center. For schedule, see https://sites.uci.edu/win2017/conference-location/.

In addition, there are public buses (route 79) running frequently from hotel to the UCI campus.

For participants not staying at the workshop hotel, you will need to arrange your own transportation between the hotel and UCI. Please contact the organizers should you have questions concerning the logistics.

By car

If you have to come by car, you can find driving directions and freeway maps at the UCI campus maps page. Parking on campus costs $10 – $14 per day.

The UCI Physics department visitor webpage has additional information, maps, and photos to help you find your way.

If you are driving or taking a taxi or shuttle, we recommend print an UCI map and bring it with you.
