The STARS mentorship program pairs high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds from Downey and Azusa High Schools who want to pursue a career within healthcare or biomedical science, with a student from UCI on a similar track. Our intention with the STARS program is primarily to provide students with the tools they require to succeed in the college application process. STARS also aims to prepare students for success in college, to maintain momentum, and ensure the completion of a degree program. Our hope is that students go on to become healthcare workers informed and motivated by their experiences, to provide a more competent healthcare experience to all patients, but especially those of similar backgrounds.

Current Partners

We offer the mentorship program to high school students from both Downey and Azusa High Schools, who participate in the biomedical or health science programs offered by their respective campuses.
