Vision
An environmentally and socially just society where Black and historically marginalized communities thrive with health equity. To build research, educational, and community programs that support health equity and social justice.

Mission
To build research, educational, and community programs that support health equity and social justice.

Values
CEHDR’s actions are centered on the principles of equity, belonging, and community collaboration. We champion justice for communities made vulnerable by environmental injustice. rnrnThe UCI Black Thriving Initiative recognizes and responds to anti-Blackness as an existential threat to UC Irvine’s mission as a public research university. In depriving Black people of their full participation in society and in university life, anti-Blackness compromises UCI’s capacity to educate, discover, create and heal. It therefore demands a whole university response. This response relies on each member of the UCI campus community linking their future to the success of Black students, faculty and staff as well as alumni and communities served by UCI.
