CFEP Science Director, Kelley Le Elected as a Board Member for Ten Strands Organization

Dr. Stephanie Reyes-Tuccio and the UCI Center for Educational Partnerships congratulate UCI Science Project Director, Dr. Kelley Le, for being elected a board member for the Ten Strands nonprofit organization.

California’s leading field catalyst nonprofit, Ten Strand’s mission is to strengthen the partnerships and strategies that will bring environmental literacy to all of California’s K-12 students by providing high-quality, environment-based learning.

Dr. Le previously served as an advisory board member and works closely with the organization through various projects and initiatives. She recently supported the organization’s joint effort with the San Mateo County Office of Education in writing a bill for Senator Ben Allen’s office that was signed into law earlier this month.

The legislation will allocate $6 million for the creation of educational resources on climate change and environmental justice education for California. The bill was signed as part of the AB/SB 130 and will make the environmental curriculum accessible to all K-12 students throughout the state.

“I’m beyond excited to join this dynamic and powerful team to support K-12 initiatives on climate and environmental literacy and to lend my voice, perspective, and experience,” Le said.
