As a humanitarian crisis unfolds in Haiti after the devastating Jan. 12 earthquake, the campus community is rallying to help. The Office of the Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs has organized a relief effort for the hundreds of thousands of injured and displaced Haitians. A vigil www.volunteer.uci.edu/helphaiti.php at the Cross-Cultural Center and “Rally for Relief” at the UCI Student Center will take place Thursday, Jan. 21. In addition, Chen Li, associate professor of computer science, and six students have created a Haiti family reunification Web portal http://fr.ics.uci.edu/haiti/ to help people find missing quake victims.
