Request for Proposals: Illuminations: The Chancellor’s Arts and Culture Initiative
Illuminations: The Chancellor’s Arts and Culture Initiative supports arts and cultural programming for undergraduates across campus. We are seeking proposals for faculty-initiated events in 2017-2018. Possible event formats include performances, lectures, screenings, exhibits, workshops, master classes, demonstrations, and panel conversations. Performance events should incorporate a reflective component, such as an introduction, a respondent, an interview with the artist or creator, or a Q&A period.
All proposals must be submitted and supervised by a Senate faculty member. Illuminations does not support academic conferences aimed at a primarily scholarly audience. Illuminations will work with grant recipients to promote each event; primary responsibility for event planning and production, however, will reside with the grant recipient and his/her originating unit. Events that include student organizations, librarians or staff as team members are encouraged, as are events that dovetail with curricular or campus initiatives, events that promote cross-cultural understanding and exchange, and events that integrate the arts and humanities with science and technology.
Professor Ted Wright is willing to be a faculty sponsor if a strong group of CHP students wishes to propose an event. Learn more about guidelines and criteria here. The deadline to submit a proposal is Tuesday, January 31 by 5 p.m. Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated by the Illuminations Campus Council, with final notifications in Spring 2017.
