Hired! is an innovative program that is designed to make students more attractive as job candidates or internship prospects. First offered to CHP students last January, Hired! is again being offered to CHP students on Saturday, July 14th. This day-long program will help students develop their communications, goal setting, and interview skills, it will help them strengthen their resumes, and it will give them an opportunity to meet with the CEOs of several southern CA businesses and learn firsthand what they look for in a candidate. Included as part of the program is a ½ hour prep call two weeks prior to the program and a one month follow up call to insure you are making the progress you need to.

If you would like to be considered for a place in this program, please contact me (ChpDirector@uci.edu) by Friday, June 15. Be sure to include your name, year in school, and major.

As we did last winter, the CHP will be covering 90% of the cost of the Hired! program. We are asking students who can afford it, to contribute $50, the last 10% of the cost. However, it is important that this request for a co-payment not be the factor that dissuades students, for whom the amount would be a financial burden, from taking advantage of this excellent opportunity. If the contribution is an issue, let me know when you contact me, and we will work something out.

I expect that there might be a few CHP graduating seniors who could benefit from this program. First, Congratulations on graduating! The good news is that, even though you will have graduated, the program this summer will still be available to you.
