We propose an academic hub at UCI, housed in the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building (ISEB) that will advance breakthroughs in solutions-oriented science to address climate change. Climate change is upon us, jeopardizing livelihoods and infrastructure, and fueling economic and social unrest around the world. The question is no longer whether climate change is a threat, but what can we do about it. UCI’s Climate, Energy, and Water Solutions (CLEWS) Hub will explore strategies to better manage greenhouse gas emissions and transition to renewable energy; improve forecasts of the hydrologic, wildfire and ecological impacts of climate change; and design equitable and sustainable strategies to confront climate change.
