My name is Madolyn Kelm. I am a Latina born and raised in Salem, Oregon. There I attended Willamette University where I earned my B.A. in Physics.
Combining my passions for the ocean, physics, and combating climate change I am now pursuing my Ph.D. student in the Earth System Science Department. Here, I will be studying the physical and biological dynamics of kelp cultivation in the ocean.
Fun Fact
My outside passions include teaching, travel, and exploring the West Coast! I got to experience an entirely different West Coast when I studied abroad in Galway, Ireland. There I got to explore the Connemara countryside and even feed a newborn lamb!
Research Interests
- Carbon sequestration
- Restoration of local ocean biodiversity
- Bio-physical dynamics of coastal and estuarine communities
