Comprehensive Analytics for Student Success
UCI COMPASS (Comprehensive Analytics for Student Success) is a cross-functional initiative focuses on bringing relevant student data to campus advisors, faculty, and administrators with the goal of providing actionable information to improve student outcomes and improve student success.
This collaborative initiative includes staff from several Offices:
- Academic Planning & Institutional Research
- Enrollment Management – Enrollment Management Analytics
- Information Technology – Teaching & Learning Analytics
- Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning
COMPASS is:
- A homegrown UCI solution leveraging best-of-breed vendor tools to assist with effective and efficient data analysis and use
- A set of analytics tools, dashboards, and reports provided to academic & student support staff, faculty, and academic administrators
- A set of campus-wide services to assist advisors, student support staff, faculty, and administration with timely data to assist with outreach and intervention activities
- A partnership including subject matter experts in pedagogy, enrollment management, institutional research, University administration, and information technology

Enrollment Management Analytics
Under the leadership of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, Enrollment Management Analytics (EMA) creates and manages cohort-centric tools and dashboards to support:

The Enrollment Management Analytics App (EMA App) uses Microsoft Power BI to provide tools, dashboards, and reports to a variety of units around campus.
Teaching & Learning Analytics
Under the leadership of the Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning and housed in the Office of Information Technology, Teaching & Learning Analytics (TLA) creates and manages student-centered reports and dashboards to raise awareness of & support:

These reports and dashboards are provided via the IBM Cognos and Tableau business intelligence products, as well as bespoke web applications developed by UCI, for UCI.
