Upcoming Graduate InterConnect Fall Quarter Events
While you already may have a lot of reading and perhaps, some assignments, it’s important to also balance your academics with activities. This can include networking with fellow graduate students and building important skill sets.
Graduate Interconnect:
- International Graduate Student Lunchtime Meet-ups – Tuesday, September 29, 2pm-3pm at Graduate Resource Center (GRC) on the 3rd floor of the Gateway Study Center
- Bring your lunch and a friend and join GIC Peer Mentors, Bridgette and Anand, for interesting conversations about the graduate student experience. Meet-ups will be every other Tuesday (week 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9).
- What it Means to Be an Academic Scholar? – Wednesday, September 30, 2pm-3pm at Graduate Resource Center (GRC) on the 3rd floor of the Gateway Study Center
- With international students in mind, this workshops helps international student understand the responsibilities of being an academic scholar in the U.S. and what the expectations are when it comes to academic and research integrity. Students will learn about new technologies and library resources to be successful academic scholars. RSVP today!
- Cultural Adjustment: Understanding American Slang and Idioms – Thursday, October 1, 2pm-3pm at Graduate Resource Center (GRC) on the 3rd floor of the Gateway Study Center
- Developed for international students, this workshop takes participants beyond formal language instruction. Gain perspective on American English and practice holding informal conversations using common slang and idioms with native English speakers. RSVP today!
- Taste of America – Fill out an applications for fall quarter.
- The Taste of America Program at UC Irvine provides the opportunity for local residents to open their homes to international graduate students for cross cultural exchange.
In addition, the Graduate Resource Center will offer a variety of workshops and certificate programs this fall quarter to assist with your Graduate Profession Success. Check the Graduate Division online calendar for details.
