Finding a comfortable place to live with your beloved ones is crucial for your peace of mind. Whether you come with a partner and children, your grandparents or you just want to live with your boyfriend, there is available options for every case. You can always rent a full apartment from Irvine company, but here we’ll present some cheaper options on campus, make sure to check our other housing post for general information. All the options presented in our On-Campus Housing post offer full apartments for families, except for Campus Village.
So, what do you need to do to get an apartment on campus for your family? Well, the process is very similar as the one already explained, the only difference is that, when you do the application form, you will need to put you relatives as dependents. After, you will have to prove that you have a relationship with your listed dependents, for example, the family book. In case that you want to live with your boyfriend you don’t need to be married nor be legally a domestic partner. The only thing that you need to do is sign a document where you state that you have a formal relationship, you need to do it in front of a notary (Mail Boxes Irvine is at walking distance and it will cost you around $20). You can find the document here: http://www.housing.uci.edu/docs/policies/AffidavitofMarriageorAdultPartnership.pdf
If you have children, there are daycare services available next to the housing communities http://housing.uci.edu/services/Childcare.html. You can see the rates here http://www.childcare.uci.edu/rates.php but keep in mind that subsidized care may be available for students of UCI, please contact the office for additional information! There are also a lot of groups that support families. There is one playground in Verano Place and one in Palo Verde, and a lot of activities to meet other parents in your same situation! For example, don’t miss the opportunity to check the playgroup http://sites.uci.edu/veranoplace/tag/verano-playgroup/
