It’s that time of year, the beginning of the school year is just around the corner! To help ease your transition, we invite all incoming international students to the International Graduate Welcome and Orientation. International Orientation will take place on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, the day prior to the Campuswide Graduate Welcome and Orientation. This free event provides information specific to international students related to topics including employment and professional development, campus resources, adapting to life in the U.S./Irvine, and university and academic integrity policies. It also offers an excellent opportunity to meet and build community with fellow international students and peer mentors.
So what should you expect? International Orientation is an all-day event from and takes place at the Bren Events Center (see Campus Map for location details). Please check your email for an invitation to the event and make sure you pre-register. Lunch will be provided. There is no preparation necessary for the day, but we do suggest that you bring a pen and paper so you can take notes. Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended.
When registration begins, please line up in front of the Bren Events Center to check in. If you need assistance finding the check-in location, there will peer mentors waiting to welcome you and direct you to the correct location. Peer mentors will be wearing matching t-shirts, so they will be easy to identify. Feel free to ask them any questions, we are here to help you! After checking in, make your way inside the Events Center and find a seat at your assigned table with your peer mentor. You will have some time to socialize with other incoming international students from your department or school and with your peer mentor. You will also have time later in the afternoon to ask your peer mentor any questions that arise. Hopefully, by the end of the day, you will have gained some helpful information and made some new friends!
Welcome to UCI! We look forward to seeing you at International Orientation.
