The Associated Graduate Students (AGS) and Associated students – UCI (ASUCI) both have unique opportunities for graduate students to take part in. AGS has many events for graduate students throughout the year. The events are also listed on the Facebook page and includes many different events throughout the year, the first being welcome week. The hold bagel days throughout the quarter, usually Thursday mornings. In the past, they have taken students on wine/beer tastings, soccer games, hiking, stand up paddleboarding among other activities for free or a minimum cost. They are also able to fund students to go abroad or to conferences though an application submission process. The purpose of the organization is to help graduate students in any way they can. To do this, they hold open meetings where you can voice your concerns about parking, housing and legislature around campus or the state.
ASUCI is a little different in being it primarily serves undergraduates. The main advantage of visiting ASUCI are discounted tickets to various parks and recreational activities around Orange County. Here you can find tickets for Universal Studios, movies, aquariums, whale watching, San Diego Zoo and Six Flags to name a few. ASUCI is also where you can buy anteater express passes if you need to take a bus from Park West. They also hold a vendor fair for a week each quarter which has cool shops, good food and is fun to just walk through when you need a break from class. The vendor fair occurs outside the hill along ring road. Both the AGS and ASUCI offices are located along the student center terrace.
