Seed Library
About
UCI Housing Sustainability welcomes campus community members to seed libraries to pick up free seeds for personal use. This program is forged in partnership with UCI Sustainability Resource Center, Palo Verde Resident Council, and Verano Place Resident Council.
The purpose of the seed library program is to foster a campus culture of sustainability and resilience as it enables a community of backyard and container farmers.
Patrons can visit the Sustainability Resource Center on the fourth floor of the UCI Student Center. Outdoor seed libraries are located behind the GFH Living and Learning Service Center (Verano Place) and at the Palo Verde Office beside the Amazon Lockers.
Share Seeds
We invite community members to collect and donate seeds from plants in their garden that have “gone to seed” to replenish our library and continue to empower others to start their own gardens. Just one seed donation to the library is an appreciated and valuable gift to the community! We encourage the saving and sharing of non-genetically modified seeds. These seeds will produce more seeds to allow for planting again year after year.
