Move Out Donation Drive
Donating is Recycling
More than 20 donation bins are located across UCI Housing communities year round and additional bins are brought in each June. Bins are marked on community maps.
Donating:
- diverts waste away from landfills and reduces demand for newly manufactured items,
- supports UCI Housing’s value of sustainability; and
- supports our amazing community partners.
Your Impact:
- UCI Housing donates over 70 tons, over 140,000 pounds, of clothing, home goods, and non-perishable food to community partners each year.
- During each June Move Out Donation Drive, residents donate around 30,000 pounds.
Meet our Partners
- Accepts gently-used clothing, home goods, e-waste, and furniture
- Accepts textiles such as clothing, bedding, and shoes
- Accepts unopened, labeled, non-perishable food items or toiletries
Partners CANNOT accept mattress pads, broken furniture, hangers, or laundry hampers.
Get Ready for Move Out
The Move Out Donation Drive is an annual event organized at the end of Spring Quarter. The Donation Drive allows residents to dispose of items that could be re-used or re-purposed while avoiding adding to the local landfill.
The drive will take place in UCI Housing communities during Week 9-11 of Spring Quarter. Additional donation bins are added on site in undergraduate communities.
