Instructor

Dr. Andrea Nicholas is currently an associate teaching professor of the Neurobiology and Behavior department in the School of Biological Sciences at UCI. She obtained her PhD in Neurobiology and Pharmacology from the University of Chicago. After coming to UCI, Dr. Nick developed and taught the N120 Human Biology series. In 2019, she was awarded the Gallow Professor of the Year. Channeling her passion for teaching and mentorship into research, Dr. Nick also studies the process of learning and memory relating to pedagogical methods. In addition, Dr. Nick is a part of Nu Rho Psi, the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience (FUN), Society for Neuroscience, and SABER. She has been a reviewer and on the editorial board for academic journals, including the Journal of Microbiology and Biology Education and Journal of Undergraduate Neuroscience Education. Most of all, Dr. Nick has been a mentor and advocate for students in the Human Biology cohort at UCI, providing a collaborative and welcoming environment for all.
