How do I become a human biology major?

The major in Human Biology is open to junior- and senior-level students only. Applications to declare the major should be made during spring of the sophomore or junior year. Review of applications submitted at that time and selection to the major by the Human Biology Faculty Board is completed during the summer. See the UCI General Catalogue for more details.

The steps for requesting a change of major on the registrar website are listed below.

NOTE: A 2.0 Overall GPA and 3.0 Biology GPA are Required.

  1. Go to the UCI webreg: http://reg.uci.edu/ .
  2. Click on “Student Access” on the top of the page.
  3. Login using your UCI NetID and password.
  4. Click on the “Applications” tab on the left hand side of the page.
  5. Click “Change of Major”.
  6. Then, drop your current major and add “Human Biology” by picking from the drop down list.
  7. Click Submit.

**Decisions will be made after spring grades are posted to your transcript.
