The EDS system on the XL-30 SEM is currently down. A service appointment has been scheduled for Friday, October 14. In the meantime, the instrument can still be used for all non-EDS purposes.

As the engineer was about to remove the EDS detector from the SEM, the detector started working again.
We decided to leave the current detector in the SEM and will be monitoring it. If you are using the EDS and it has a problem again, please report it immediately to Dr. Zheng or MingJe.
The backup detector will still be delivered as scheduled and stay in our lab for couple weeks just in case the current detector stops working again.
The engineer is here today to examine the EDS. After the examination, he decided to send the detector back to the factory.
It’s going to take about 4-6 weeks to get the detector returned.
During this time, we are going to have a loaner detector which will be delivered next week around Wednesday and installed later in the next week.
