EDS and EBSD is down on Quanta 3D SEM/FIB (11/01/2016)

EDS and EBSD functions are not working on the Quanta 3D SEM/FIB. The EDS detector is malfunctioning. The HKL software running EBSD shows errors when acquiring band structure. We are contacting the company (Oxford) for the solution and will update when the problem is fixed.

Thank you,

  1. The EDS detector has been fixed and installed back intothe Quanta 3D SEM/FIB. EDS function is now working (Jan05,2017)

  2. Hi, Quanta 3D users:

I replaced the bent OMNI probe with a new one this evening. I received a couple of reports about the misuse of the probe. The probe was left in a bad shape without report for a couple of times. From now on, all OMNI probe users must indicate in the on-line reservation form if you use the probe and write a few words in the log book about whether the probe is good or bad by the end of experiment. Please send me an email if the probe is in bad shape.

I also checked the Oxford EBSD system. The previous problem has been fixed. you may use it as usual.

The EDS detector can not move into the right position now. I have tried a few methods by following vendors’ instruction, but the problem remains. I am waiting for further answer from the the vendor Oxford instruments.

    Thanks,
    Jian-Guo
