Mini-TED talk from Sandra Tsing Loh’s class

Last quarter I took a course on science communication skills with Sandra Tsing Loh, of Loh Down on Science fame. The class was really great and I learned a ton from watching fellow grad students hammer their research into shape for sharing with the general public. I did the same of course, and at the end we all taped our 6 minute “mini-TED” talks in a studio with teleprompter and all. I’ve been dreading to look at mine, but finally did — boy is it weird to see and hear yourself on camera. It’s not perfect, but here it is:
