Warren Wiechmann, MD, MBA

Warren Wiechmann is the Associate Dean of Instructional Technologies at the University of California, Irvine, School of Medicine, Professior of Emergency Medicine, and the project leader for the school’s iMedEd Initiative (www.imeded.uci.edu), a comprehensive digital overhaul of the curriculum which uses the iPad as its centerpiece for curricular innovation. He is interested in the mash-up of technology, medicine, and education. He is also intrigued by the integration of technology to improve clinical workflows and efficiency, instructional technology and information design to enhance physician and patient education, mobile and asynchronous learning, the development of a medical student curriculum in informatics and instructional technology, digital literacy, and mHealth/eHealth/Medicine 2.0/Health 2.0.
Megan Osborn, MD, MHPE
University of California, Irvine, Department of Emergency Medicine
Megan Boysen Osborn is residency program director for the University of California, Irvine emergency medicine residency. She completed a medical education fellowship at Stanford University and Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) at University of Illinois, Chicago. Dr. Osborn’s interests are in curriculum design, residency recruitment, cardiac and neuro-ophthalmologic emergencies.
Shannon Toohey, MD, MAEd

Shannon Toohey is the Associate Program Director for the University of California, Irvine Emergency Medicine Residency Program. In 2016, she completed the Multimedia Design and Educational Technology (MDEdTech) Fellowship at the University of California Irvine. She completed medical school at UC Irvine School of Medicine, after which she completed her residency at the UC Irvine Medical Center. She received a Masters in Education, Multimedia and Instructional Design at Cal Poly Pomona. During her time at UC Irvine she has developed and expanded many educational programs for the residents including a flipped medical student and intern podcast curriculum, oral board review course and helped to revamp the curriculum. Her interests include asynchronous learning, flipped curricula, resident and patient education.
Alisa Wray, MD
University of California, Irvine, Department of Emergency Medicine
Alisa Wray joined the University of California Faculty as the second Multimedia and Instructional Design fellow under Dr. Warren Wiechmann in 2015. She is currently getting a Masters in Education, Multimedia and Instruction Design though Cal Poly Pamona. Dr. Wray grew up in rural San Diego county and attended the University of California Irvine for her Bachelors of Science; she then attended Tulane University for her MD, and finally returned to UC Irvine to complete her Emergency Medicine Residency training where, as the Academic Chief of Educational Technologies and Simulation, she helped to develop and expand an online curriculum. Dr. Wray’s interests include resident and patient education, incorporation of technology into education, as well as graphic design and flipped curriculum development. Outside of medicine she enjoys spending time with her husband, baking cakes, playing with her two puppies and aerial acrobatics.
Jon Smart, MD
Jon Smart is an assistant program director at the University of California Irvine. Having completed medical school at LSU-New Orleans and then Emergency Medicine residency at UT-San Antonio he is now continually searching for paths to innovate in medical education at all levels of training, he completed a fellowship in Medical Education and Technology at UC Irvine. Areas of particular interest are gamification, meta-learning, novel technology applications, as well as engaging speaking methods and slide design. Essentially, he has a dream of making ineffective and mind-numbingly dull educational experiences extinct.

Ronnie River is currently the Vice Chair of DEI at the University of California, Irvine, Department of Emergency Medicine.
