DermaSpin®: Point of care portable burn wound dressing device using blowspinning technology with heating element
Develop an innovative prototype handheld burn wound care device based on application of nanofibers
Team Members:
Marlena Camarena (Team Lead), Kadin Diec, Jasmine Kumar, Elston Lewis, and Alexandar Poulsen
Project Deliverables:
- Functional Prototype: A fully operational handheld blowspinning device (DermaSpin®) capable of producing nanofibers from PVA formulations.
* Key Features: Compact size, lightweight, balanced design to prevent tilting, and a minimum battery life of 3 hours. Aimed to meet * FDA Class II medical device standards.
* Performance Metrics: Produces nanofibers with diameters between 30-50 microns, has a 5 mL disposable solution reservoir, and achieves a nanofiber layer within 2 minutes, covering a minimum 5% area.
