Olivia Cooper (she/her/hers)

Editor-in-Chief

Year: Fourth Year
Major/Minor: Human Biology BS
Why MSO: Through MSO, I’m able to constantly learn about new frontiers and perspectives in medicine and science while enabling others with less formal education in the sciences to also gain new knowledge. I also get to improve my writing skills without actually having to write (definitely born an editor, not a writer)!
Academic/Professional Interest: I’m in the process of preparing for PA school and, eventually, a career in clinical neurology. But, who knows?
Fun Fact: My baby teeth moved out of the way instead of falling out, granting me a fun set of shark teeth for a bit!

Evien Cheng (she/her)

Committee Chair of Medicine and Pharmacy

Year: Second Year
Major/Minor: Pharmaceutical Sciences BS, Computer Science BS
Why MSO: I first joined MSO because I wanted to combine my passion for writing along with the sciences. At MSO, I was able to hone my writing skills, learning more about how to write in a scientific and professional style, and research about the topics I enjoy. I also got to meet a lot of talented people and made new friends!
Academic/Professional Interest: I’m interested in pursuing a PhD in computational biology and then working in biotech or pharmaceutical industry in the future.
Fun Fact: I love to crochet, watch anime, and play video games.

Amanda Fang (she/her/hers)

Committee Chair of Public Health and Wellness

Year: Second Year
Major/Minor: Biological Science BS / Medical Anthropology minor
Why MSO: I joined MSO to spread scientific literacy and to be able to combine my interests in science and writing!
Academic/Professional Interest: Neuroscience and learning more about the brain!
Fun Fact: I love reading and learning new things!

Makayla Phea (she/her/hers)

Webmaster

Year: Second Year
Major/Minor: Biological Sciences BS, Psychology BS
Why MSO: I joined MSO because of its commitment to expanding access to scientific literacy to the average reader. I also hoped to grow my skills as a writer while learning about different topics in the science/health field.
Academic/Professional Interest: I plan on pursuing PA school (potentially an PA/MPH, but I am not sure yet!) and my research interests center on the comorbidity of psychological disorders and its effect on our neurobiology.
Fun Fact: I have 5+ different teas stocked in my apartment!
