UCI Rhetoric is a Research Cluster that welcomes faculty, staff, and graduate students from across campus interested in rhetorical studies, broadly conceived. Our scholarly community spans research in historical and contemporary topics including Rhetoric and Composition, Literary Studies, New Media Studies, Sexuality Studies, Applied/Sociocultural Linguistics, Second Language Reading and Writing, Heidegger, Feminism, Comparative/Global Rhetorics, Cultural Rhetorics, Postcolonial Rhetorics, Black Geographies, Native American & Indigenous Studies, Oceania, Militarism, Climate Justice. UCI Rhetoric hosts regular reading groups, has sponsored interdisciplinary seminars, and provides graduate student mentorship.

Graduate Studies

You can augment your graduate studies with work in rhetoric.Faculty in the Rhetoric Research Cluster have advised graduate students in English, Informatics, Education, Comparative Literature, Culture and Theory, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and Global Studies.

 

Graduate Funding:

Graduate students in the cluster have received special funding and support that includes Graduate Scholar in the Office of the Campus Writing and Communication Coordinator, WAC+WID Graduate Scholars Program, Graduate Student Researcher, support for conference travel and presentation, and event support.

The cluster offers opportunities for close research collaboration including co-authorship with faculty.
