Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is where two or more forms of authentication are used to log into an application. It adds a second layer of protection which helps prevent a malicious individual from accessing your account. Types of MFA include:

Something You Have

  • Hardware and software tokens
  • USB Stick
  • Magnetic Strip Cards

Something You Know

  • Passwords
  • Pins

Something You Are

  • Fingerprints
  • Facial Recognition
  • Iris Scans

Somewhere You Are

  • GPS location
