The SPL at the University of California, Irvine pursues social practice and pedagogy at the intersection of media art and speculative design. The lab supports collaborations between artists, designers, engineers, scientists, humanists and the general public. Our Projects aim not only to tackle real world problems, but to challenge design itself by broadening its capabilities to create conjectural solutions.
