About Us
The Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) Student Chapter at UCI, founded in 2019, is a student organization dedicated to building a strong gender-diverse cybersecurity workforce by facilitating recruitment, retention, and advancement for women in the field. We provide our UCI community with opportunities for cybersecurity education, networking, and empowerment through professional and academic development events, networking and social activities, seminars, panels, and more. Our members include students across disciplines and academic paths, including undergraduate and graduate students from computer science and engineering, business, and law.
Our organization is a student chapter of the national Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS), which has the following goals:
I. To decrease the gender disparity in cybersecurity.
II. To provide education, mentorship, and networking support to students through the WiCyS community.
III. To promote and recruit women in cybersecurity workforce through UCI.
We host a variety of events and programs, including professional and academic development events, technical workshops, networking opportunities, and social events. We also attend the annual WiCyS conference each year and represent our UCI student chapter.
All UCI students interested in the cybersecurity and privacy fields are welcome to join WiCyS at UCI!
