PhD candidates, Alicja Jagiełło and Qingda Hu, and undergrad, Ulysses Castillo, published a paper on ruthenium-catalyzed photocrosslinking (RCP) as a tool for creating distinct stiffness anisotropies in the extracellular matrix.  The paper outlines how RCP can induce directional change in migrating cells exhibiting contact guidance and durotaxis in 3D hydrogels.  RCP is an exciting and accessible application in microrheology.  You can gain your own appreciation for RCP by clicking this link.
