The grant will fund development of the iGLOBE LifeStrip, a continuous subcutaneous monitor that will measure Insulin, Glucose, Lactate, Oxygen, and Beta Hydroxybutyrate (a ketone body). The iGLOBE is an exciting new frontier in the management and treatment of type
Results from pilot clinical lactate sensor study, published
The Continuous Lactate Monitor (CLM) developed in BEAMS lab has published the results from its first clinical study. The study included 6 healthy individuals who underwent intermittent bouts of incremental exercise and compared the CLM to a commercial lactate analyzer.
New publication examines topological defects on filament bundles
The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences has published a paper based on work of PhD candidate, Qingda Hu. The paper uses optical microscopy to examine the effect of topological defects on localized filament bundles. Read the paper here.
Frontiers in Physics publishes paper on fibrin network fluctuations
PhD candidate, Qingda Hu has had his paper on force propagation in heterogenous fibrous networks published. The paper outlines a novel optical tweezer technique that identifies the dependence of elastic couplings, drive force and helps characterize the extracellular matrix. Read
New Publication in APL Bioengineering
PhD Candidate, Alicja Jagiełło, published a paper on extracellular matrix stiffening. The paper quantifies the local matrix of dermal fibroblasts and triple-negative mammary epithelial cells through the use of active microrheology (AMR) , demonstrating AMR as a tool for revealing
Analytical Chemistry accepts calcium biosensor manuscript
PhD student Dat Nguyen’s manuscript on a FRET-based biosensor has been accepted by Analytical Chemistry. The paper outlines the development of a membrane-encapsulated optical fiber (MEOF) device for continuous monitoring of physiological calcium. Read the manuscript here.
