UROP Volunteer Information
I am grateful for your willingness to volunteer and deliver the best-ever UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium. Please find below information regarding the event, duties and expectations of the volunteers.
Our collective job is to celebrate with the presenters and their faculty mentors, family members, and guests, their accomplishments. We are there at their service and to make the Symposium the most enjoyable experience they would have at UCI.
To deliver on our commitments and promise, we will be organized into three teams: Registration, Floaters, and Room Monitors. Team leaders will work closely with you to address your questions and support your role.
What is expected?
- By order of preference, express interest in team(s) you would like to join. General team duties are attached for your review.
- You can volunteer all day (per schedule below), or work in one of two shifts: Morning (6:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.), or Afternoon (11:45 a.m. – 5:45 p.m.).
- Please attend two volunteer training meetings, scheduled on: Wednesday (May 4th) from 3-5:00 p.m. , Thursday (May 5th) from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Tuesday (May 10th) from 4-6:00 p.m. AND Wednesday (May 11th) from 4-6:00 p.m. All meetings will be held in Student Services II, Classroom 1010 A/B. Once you are assigned to a team, please coordinate your attendance with the team leader assigned to working with you.

UROP Symposium
You are cordially invited to join us at the Eighteenth Annual UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium on Saturday, May 14, 2011, in the Humanities Buildings. This stimulating day-long event provides an excellent opportunity for you, UCI faculty and staff, parents, alumni, members of the media, and the outside community to participate actively in communicating about research and creative activities in all academic fields. The Symposium gives students a rich experience in the presentation aspect of the research process through their oral and/or poster presentations and discussions.
We encourage you to make a presentation at the Symposium or to attend and learn about the research endeavors of your fellow undergraduates. The Presentation & Abstract Submission Form is available online at UROP Web site: http://www.urop.uci.edu/symposium.html . The submission deadline is Monday, April 18, 2011.
Please note that UROP and SURP Fellows are required to submit the form and present at the Symposium; however, the event is open to all students to attend, present, or volunteer.

UROP Symposium on Saturday
On behalf of the UROP Team, I cordially invite you to join us at the Seventeenth Annual UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium to be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010, in the Humanities Buildings. A record number of 505 projects will be showcased at this year’s event in 262 oral presentations and 274 poster presentations (31 projects will be presented in both formats). These projects involve 683 unique undergraduate students, who were mentored by 364 unique faculty members.
This year’s theme, “Undergraduate Research: Launching the Future,” reminds us of the impact that today’s young researchers will have on our world. We are honored to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Dr. Marc Madou (http://mmadou.eng.uci.edu/), Chancellor’s Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering & Materials Science.
